The following Leagues are available at the King Curling Club:
Mens Team Entry - Monday Evening
Two Draws 7:00 and 9:00PM
The capacity for Men’s Team Entry is 20 teams. Monday night will be the regular night with overflow on Tuesday. Teams could expect to play 2 - 4 Tuesday games over the course of the season. This is a Team Entry league and, as such, priority will be given to team entries. Singles may apply but will be placed on a waiting list and will only be added to teams as space permits. Returning teams with a minimum of 3 returning team members will be given first right of registration. At least three team members must be registered and have paid in full no later than September 5, 2023 to retain their spot. Returning teams will be seeded as per the Final League standings from the previous season. The League Committee will seed teams with less than 3 returning team members or new teams.
Competitive/Team Entry Leagues have the option of adding a 5th Player to their team. The Criteria for the 5th Teammate is outlined in the Spare Policy.
Mixed Recreational - Tuesday Morning
One Draw 10:00AM - 12:00 PM
We encourage new and experienced curlers to participate in this relaxed recreational league with a social emphasis. This league is perfect for those who cannot commit to being there each week. This is a “tag-draw” league, which means that teams are made up on the day of the game. The league convenor will balance teams for numbers and caliber of play.
Shorter Game Format League - Tuesday Afternoon
One Draw 1:00 - 3:00 PM
This league welcomes curlers to come out and learn the shorter game formats such as doubles, triples and Sturling (modified doubles). Instruction will be provided and league play will be set up depending on the participant's interest. This social league is open to men and women of all ages and abilities. The convenor will balance teams and games every week. This league will also appeal to those who want to curl but cannot commit to attending every week.
Little Rocks - Tuesday Afternoon
One Draw 4:30 - 6:00PM
Open to any children from 7 to 11 years old. This league focuses on instruction but offers some ‘game play’. Lighter weight rocks are used but still give the feel of the game. Players progress to the adult weight rocks when appropriate. Registration limits are determined by the availability of volunteer coaches. Let us know if you are interested in helping. Coaching training may be available if you contact the Player Development soon enough.
U15/U18/U21 - Tuesday Afternoon
One Draw 4:30 - 6:00PM
Open to youth aged 12 to 20 years old. The program contains a combination of instruction and game play using the adult rocks. There is also a Bantam League on Thursday. Registration limits are determined by the availability of volunteer coaches. There may be an opportunity to play games against teams from other curling clubs. Coaches will discuss this aspect with players and parents/guardians.
Women's Team Entry - Tuesday Evening (NEW TIMES)
One Draw - 6:30PM NEW TIME (unless a large registration requires two - 2nd Draw @ 8:30 NEW TIME)
Tuesday night is women's night and we are once again offering the Women's Team Entry League. Games will normally be played at 6:30PM, with teams expected to play 2-4 8:30PM games over the course of the season. This is a Team Entry league and, as such, priority will be given to team entries. Singles may apply but will be placed on a waiting list and will only be added to teams as space permits. Should we not have enough complete teams sign up, teams will be developed from single person registrations. Returning teams with a minimum of 3 returning team members will be given first right of registration. At least three team members must be registered and have paid in full no later than September 5, 2024 to retain their spot.
Competitive/Team Entry Leagues have the option of adding a 5th Player to their team. The Criteria for the 5th Teammate is outlined in the Spare Policy.
Mixed Social - Wednesday Late Afternoon League
One draw 4:00 to 6:00 PM
The Wednesday Afternoon Mixed Social League offers mixed gender teams chosen several times during the season by the league convenor. This league is a great choice for the new or experienced curler with the emphasis on fun curling and great socializing. The league will be capped at 9 teams. If the cap is reached one team will have a bye each week resulting in curlers having two or three afternoons off throughout the season.
Mixed Social - Wednesday Evening (NEW TIMES)
Two draws 6:30 and 8:30PM (NEW TIMES)
The Wednesday Evening Mixed Social League offers mixed gender team chosen at the beginning of each half of the season by the league convenor. This league is a great choice for BOTH new and experienced curlers with the emphasis on fun curling and great socializing. Games will be played at both 6:30pm (new time) and 8:30pm (new time) and the league convenor will balance the game times for each team. This league will be capped at 18 teams and if the cap is reached two teams will have a bye each week resulting in curlers having 2-3 nights off during the season.

Women's Day - Thursday Afternoon

Thursday Afternoon Women’s Day League welcomes women to sign up regardless of age or experience. Teams are developed by the league convenor with the goal of balancing teams and encouraging social play. The curling season will consist of two halves with new teams formed at the mid-point of the season. The league will be capped at 9 teams. If the cap is reached one team will have a bye each week resulting in curlers having two or three afternoons off throughout the season.

This is a Team Entry League and, as such, priority will be given to team entries. Teams shall consist of two male and two female curlers in alternating male/female positions. Singles may apply but will only be added to teams as space permits. Returning teams with a minimum of 3 returning team members will be given first right of registration. At least three team members must be registered and have paid in full no later than September 5, 2023 to retain their spot. Returning teams will be seeded as per the Final League standings from the previous season. The League Committee will seed returning teams with less than 3 team members or new teams.

NEW - JITNEY STYLE - Friday Late Afternoon League
One Draw 4:30PM - 6:30PM
We encourage new and experienced curlers to participate in this relaxed recreational league with a social emphasis. This league is perfect for those who cannot commit to being there each week. This is a “tag-draw” league which means that teams are made up on the day of the game. The league convenor will balance teams for numbers and caliber of play.
Mixed Social - Friday Evening
One Draw 7:00 to 9:00PM
The Friday Mixed Social League offers mixed gender teams chosen at the beginning of each half season by the league convenor. This league is a great choice for new or experienced curlers with the emphasis on fun curling and great socializing. You will have an enjoyable night out and for many you don’t have to get up early to go to work the next day. The league will be capped at 9 teams. If the cap is reached one team will have a bye each week resulting in curlers having two or three evenings off throughout the season.
Adult Instructional League - Sunday Afternoon
One Draw 1:00 to 3:00PM (Oct-Dec)
This is a basic learn to curl program. This adult program will be open to all new curlers or players that have not curled for some time and wish to learn the sport outside of a formalized league environment. Eight consecutive sessions will be held on Sunday afternoons. The maximum number of participants will be 32. Each session will build on the previous one, progressing through a program approved by the Ontario Curling Association and facilitated by our trained OCA coaches. You will be instructed on the proper way to deliver a rock, basic strategy, team play, and will be involved in structured games when ready to do so. At the conclusion of this eight week program players will be encouraged to join other regular leagues beginning in January and will be placed on teams by each league's convenor. Feedback from our previous participants has been very positive.
The cost of this league is the covered by your basic membership fee if this is the only league you have joined. An additional fee will apply for the remainder of the year if you wish to continue. This is the best way to learn curling in a structured environment with a proven method of teaching and good fun as well!
If you have joined this program in the past or have previous experience, please choose one or more of the advanced learning pograms that will be offered from time to time.
Please note that this program starts October 20 and runs for 8 weeks with a possible 9th week available.
