Emily's House Bonspiel
Photo Gallery now available. Click here to see pictures of this event.
The Emily's House Bonspiel held on February 11th, was a huge success. The Bonspiel raised $2,900 in support of this cause. Many thanks to the sixty-four curlers and volunteers that came out and supported this worthwhile cause. Additional thanks go to the sponsor Silver Birch Contracting for their generous sponsorship of this event.

Official Grand Opening - October 14, 2011 - 7-10 pm
Mark your calendars on Friday Oct.14th for the King Curling Club’s Official Grand Opening.
All members are welcome to come and participate along with dignitaries and the Executive
to officially open the club. The ceremony will begin at 7pm with speeches, special guests
and the infamous throw of the first rock. Refreshments and Social will follow until 10pm.
It promises to be a very exciting evening that should not be taken for “granite”. Watching
the first rocks to be thrown, will mark the beginning of a new Era and will undoubtedly make
a mark in curling history.
Revised Terms and Conditions of Membership
To facilitate fair and uniform administration of the King Curling Club we have revised several terms
and conditions of membership. The changes do not affect the price of membership and should be
of benefit to both the members and the club. The two terms that have changed were the consent
regarding privacy of information and the waiver of responsibility. Both were on the last page of
the registration/application form. Click here for more Information.
Membership Update
The dust is finally settling after several very busy weeks of registration and the setting up of leagues and teams. We have provided our
members quite a bit of information through the course of the “Learn To Curl” clinics and during the start-up of individual leagues. Here
is some additional follow up information that you should find very useful:
- Practice Time – There have been many requests for dedicated ice time for practicing. We have now reserved two sheets of ice on
Sunday afternoons 1:00 to 3:00 PM starting Sunday October 23. This is available to all curlers, experienced and new alike,
who would like to work on their skills in a ‘non-game’ environment.
The club will cover the cost of the ice time by charging a user fee of $20 per sheet per hour and we can accommodate up to 4 curlers on each sheet. This works out to $5 per person if the sheet has four people on it.
Please register in advance by contacting Maureen Richardson at 905-859-0984 or email info@kingcurling.com.
- Curling Equipment – Many of our curlers took advantage of purchasing equipment at the Open House events from our invited guest suppliers “Shot Rock Shop”. They have greatly appreciated the patronage of our club members. Although we had hoped to have them back one more time, once we started curling, they will not be able to work us into their busy schedule.
They will be happy to accommodate anyone who comes to their store in Barrie, where they have a full selection of reasonably priced equipment. Contact Sheri or Paul Gilder at 1-877-229-3332 or email curling@shotrockshop.com.
- Convener List – It is important that all curlers know who their “go to” people are for their respective leagues. A list of leagues and affiliated conveners/spare coordinators will be posted in the curling lounge.
All members should contact their skip, spare coordinator, or convener for their league well in advance of the date they intend to be absent. A full team makes for a much more enjoyable game and proper notice gives us time to find a spare.
There is space still available in the Tuesday Mixed Social league, as well as most of the daytime leagues. Contact the Membership Coordinator Jack Campbell at 905-939-2992 or email registration@kingcurling.com.
- League Schedules - For all of your league scores, standings and schedules, follow this link from our club website to League Lineup
It can be found on the King Curling Club website on the League tab, at the top of the page. You can print the individual schedule for your league or team.
